Everlast Roofing swooped in, and, in the middle of Winter, replaced all four roofs within our Victorian property. They did it with knowledge, experience, pace and extremely professionally. The support of a professional roofing team – James at the helm with Christian his on-site lead, assisted by Peter & Ardy – makes an enormous difference when having to invest substantially in a part of your house’s infrastructure that normally goes unseen – until it gives out. In our case, our roof had allegedly been completely overhauled by builders less than five years ago. It was only through James’ innovative use of video diaries showing the state of the roofing done by a builder we thought we were able to trust at the time that we could see the roof was being held up by what looked as thin as birch bark; the chimneys were virtually toppling over with inattendance and original gulleys and guttering had clearly not been touched since the original Victorian-era builder. With Winter in its deepest grasp, James and his team replaced the front roof with the right code of wooden rafters; sourced over 350 vintage tiles so that the front roof was in keeping with the rest of the street; sourced and replaced a large number of original era London-stock bricks to replace those at the side and around the chimney stack; replaced a roof extension loft with the right depth of materials and zinc lining and repeated the process with the other two roofs at the back of the house over the kitchen and utility rooms. Finally, James sourced a new drain pipe that looked like the original cast-iron one and gave the front of the house a lick of paint. All this in freezing weather, including some Saturdays and always the team with good humour, which helped soften the blow of having to suddenly repair something that should (now) last 25 years.
